We provide a range of professional qualifications

At The Creative Outdoor Group, we now offer a range of qualifications that any young people who are staying with us can work towards during their day to day activities and potentially achieve.

These awards enable personal development and help to increase self-esteem, confidence and improve on their ability to communicate and learn about the outdoors. The awards are:

  • The National Outdoor Learning Award

    This is nationally recognised and can be achieved relatively quickly by all YP’s. The award can be adapted to fit in with different ages, needs, outdoor environments, different activities and abilities, as long as the YP is engaged in outdoor activities.

  • The John Muir Discovery Award

    This award enables young people to achieve a nationally recognised award by experiencing wild places through different activities, conservation and sharing these experiences. The Discovery Award can be achieved in 4 days.

  • National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme

    This is a nationally recognised Indoor Climbing Scheme that young people with an interest in climbing can achieve at different levels. The scope of the award enables progression and development from beginner to more technical ability.

  • ASDAN Focus

    The ASDAN Focus award enables young people to achieve a recognised certificate and/or a number of modules by completing the activities within the COG programme.

  • AQA Unit Award Scheme

    This award scheme enables young people to develop their skills in specific vocational subjects and achieve positive outcomes in a relatively short period of time.

  • The MIAS Gears programme

    This enables young people to gain personal skills and experience in mountain biking at varying levels of ability.

  • The NWAS Outdoor Discovery Award

    This particular award helps young people learn basic navigation skills and encourages exploration and discovery of nature and the outdoors.
